Pilot Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must at least hold a Private Pilot's License.
  • Must pass a 2nd Class Medical Exam.

Overview


A Commercial License allows a pilot to fly for hire. Training for this license involves learning high performance maneuvers and flying a number of cross-country flights.

 

Hour Requirements

 

  • Must at least have 250 hours total flight time.
  • Must have 100 hours of pilot in command time (PIC time). This will include 50 hours of cross-country flight.
  • Must have 10 hours of instrument time.
  • Must 10 hours in a complex aircraft
  • Must have one cross-country flight of at least 2 hours in day VFR conditions, consisting of a straight-line distance of more than 100 nautical miles from the original point of departure.
  • Must have one cross-country flight of at least 2 hours in night VFR conditions, consisting of a straight-line distance of more than 100 nautical miles from the original point of departure.
  • Must have 10 hours of solo cross-country flight time. This will consist of one cross-country flight of not less than 300 nautical miles total distance and an additional. Five of the 10 required hours will consist flying in night VFR conditions with 10 take offs and landing at a controlled airport.
